Adding a presentation to a Keynote widget

If you have already built a presentation and have Keynote 5.1.1 or later installed on your Mac, drag and drop the ".key" presentation file into a Keynote widget in iBooks Author; iBooks Author will open Keynote and perform the HTML conversion. See About Keynote 5.1.1 for more information about this version of Keynote and instructions for updating if you are running an earlier version of Keynote '09.

If your computer with iBooks Author has an earlier version or no version of Keynote, first export your presentation to HTML on a computer with Keynote 5.1.1:

In Keynote, choose Export from the File menu, then click HTML. Click Next, choose a location to save the exported HTML files, then click Export.

Drag and drop the resulting folder containing the HTML files into iBooks Author.

In iBooks Author, add a Keynote widget. Drag your exported Keynote HTML folder into the widget.Transitions and builds

These transitions and builds work with the Keynote widget:

Transitions: Magic move Cube Dissolve Drop Flip Motion dissolve Move in Pivot Push Reveal Scale Twirl Builds: Appear/disappear Cube Dissolve Drop Move in/out Pivot Scale Twirl

Unsupported builds and transitions will be replaced with Dissolve.

Audio and video presentations

Self-playing presentations and recorded presentations with voiceover narration may not work as expected. Readers will be able to view and manually advance your presentation, but recorded narration and timings won’t be available.

Video and audio included in a Keynote widget will be DRM-protected when your book is purchased via the iBookstore.
